About Old North Bridge
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.
Our Club
Founded in 1985, Old North Bridge Pony Club has a long tradition of providing high-quality equestrian education rooted in horsemanship, safety, responsibility, and teamwork. As part of U.S. Pony Club, our chapter follows a nationally standardized educational model that emphasizes both mounted skills and unmounted horsemanship knowledge.
Education & Certifications
Pony Club’s certification system is unique within youth equestrian programs and is designed to ensure that education progresses in a safe, structured, and effective manner. Certifications evaluate horse care, safety, stable management, and riding ability, and support age-appropriate, progressive learning while fostering independence and leadership.
While riding is often an individual pursuit, Pony Club emphasizes teamwork through regional rallies and activities. Members may participate in a wide range of mounted sports, including dressage, eventing, show jumping, and mounted games, both individually and as part of a team.
Horsemanship & Access
Pony Club has always placed strong emphasis on horse management and horsemanship education as the foundation of safe riding and responsible horse ownership. Unmounted instruction—covering horse care, health, nutrition, safety, and stewardship—is central to the Pony Club philosophy and allows members to gain meaningful skills and knowledge regardless of discipline or riding goals.
Conservation & Community Stewardship
Land conservation and respect for equestrian spaces are core Pony Club values. Our chapter has a long history of working closely with local conservation efforts at Foss Farm, a historic center of the local horse community. Foss Farm hosted many Pony Club activities over the years, including the much-loved annual Halloween Show, a tradition fondly remembered by former members and families.
Regional Affiliation
USPC Pony Clubs and Riding Centers are assigned to one of 41 geographical regions, which are administered by a volunteer Regional Supervisor (RS) and other appointed and elected officers. Regions offer additional activities and opportunities for members and support for the club and center leaders under their administration.
