Welcome to Old North Bridge Pony Club
Old North Bridge Pony Club is part of the United States Pony Club, which develops character, leadership, confidence, and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding, and mounted sports. Our chapter provides a supportive, educational environment where young people learn to become capable horsemen—not just riders.
Our Program
We meet biweekly from January through November, with a break during the holiday season. Meetings are currently held at Churchill Stables. Because winter riding in New England can be challenging, our winter schedule focuses primarily on unmounted horsemanship education. During the spring, summer, and fall, meetings typically include a combination of mounted and unmounted instruction.
Mounted instruction is provided by Jacqueline Baer of Baer Horsemanship + Eventing. Unmounted instruction is led by Pony Club officers, with support from local equestrian professionals and subject-matter experts. This instructional structure reflects Pony Club’s national emphasis on safety, education, and progressive skill development.
Horsemanship First
Pony Club’s educational program places equal importance on mounted skills and unmounted knowledge, including horse care, stable management, safety, and stewardship. Members progress through Pony Club’s nationally standardized certification system, which ensures education is age-appropriate, structured, and effective. While riding is often an individual sport, Pony Club emphasizes teamwork through group learning and regional activities.
Our club is primarily eventing-based, but we enthusiastically welcome members from all riding disciplines. Pony Club’s focus on transferable horsemanship skills supports riders of every background and interest.
Horse Access & Participation
At this time, Old North Bridge Pony Club is not able to provide horses or ponies for members, and participants are expected to have access to a suitable mount for mounted activities. However, Pony Club has a long and proud tradition of emphasizing horse management and horsemanship education as the foundation of safe riding and responsible horse ownership. Because of this focus, youth without consistent riding access can still gain meaningful knowledge, skills, and confidence through unmounted instruction and participation in the Pony Club community.
